HBOT is a proven, effective treatment in which patients are placed in a hyperbaric chamber and given access to safely breathe 100% oxygen at greater than atmospheric pressure. HBOT has proven to be effective in treating hypoxia (low levels of oxygen in tissue), which is a problem in all chronic wounds. By increasing oxygen concentration to the wound area, new blood vessels can form and promote healing.
